HIGH QUALITY - Durable, made with precision by iTouchless, the leader in sophisticated housewares and kitchen products
It's not perfect, but I managed to fix a major problem. This is my third iTouchless trash can. I selected it since it was black, and thus would avoid the marring and slight dents endemic to my previous stainless steel versions. It's far easier to keep the black can clean, btw.The pros: It's an iTouchless, so it's hands free and stays relatively clean. It looks great, though I might prefer it had the semi-rectangular footprint of the other versions so it is better placed at the end of the cabinets, often an area that is tight on room. The cons: it's so deep, normal kitchen bags do not fit at all. Very frustrating since draping the bag over the ring causes trash to weigh it down and the bag slips down inside the can. You cannot buy the correct sized bag; some come close, but they are very expensive. I called iTouchless and the response was "We are sorry about that, keep looking".My solution was to spray foam insulation (light, sturdy and easy to place) in the bottom inside a trashbag itself (in case you ever need to remove it, it won't stick to the surfaces that way). I filled it about 1 foot high, so now normal kitchen bags fit just fine. You can press down on your trash if needed without compressing the foam. Be careful with that stuff, until it sets, it can be very messy if you get it on your hands or elsewhere. One other gripe (for design improvement on future versions) is the top should have a lip that fit further over the edge of the can (1-1/2" - 2"), so you can use a large rubber band (or clips on the can?) to secure your bag without it appearing on the side of the can itself. The plastic ring that fits inside the lid, is both difficult to get the bag over nor does it secure it very well.Another way to secure the bag would be to have a small vertical slit on the top of the can, so you could take up the slack on the bag and bunch it down into the slit, then put the lid over it.If solutions were provided to these issues of the bag depth and securing the bag, it would be a 5 star review.Works well. Delicate to operate.Construction is flimsy. Plastic parts break easy.I love this I just seal up my potato chips or whatever I have left of I've left of different left overs so you can see the useIt does what it says. This bag sealer has been a life saver in my kitchen. It does exactly what it says - heats up the bag to seal it closed. The key to using it successfully is waiting a few moments when you clamp the bag before sliding it along the edge. How long you wait and the success of the seal depends on the thickness of the material. For very thin plastic bags just a momentary pause is enough. For thicker bags (cookies, chips, cereals) a 3-second pause is usually enough. Also, ensure that the bag doesn't overlap as you slide the sealer along. Two further notes:The sealing element is narrow so it creates a thin seal. On thin plastics this usually means the top of the bag could get cut off when it's sealed.Secondly, this is not recommended for bags that you're going to seal/reseal several times. This is for the reason above - you lose a part of the bag each time you seal. For these reasons it is not a perfect solution. I still have to use bag clips and ziploc bags for some things. But it is nice to have this option for the things it works on.Finally, do not compare this to a Foodsaver. It is not that. It does not remove air or vacuum seal your food. I've seen videos where people use these and a drinking straw to hack a vacuum seal, but the results are varied. This does what it's supposed to do - IT IS NOT A FOODSAVER!All in all, and for the price this was a good buy for me. 4 stars. If you want to seal a bag with a handheld device, these work well. Unfortunately, one of them only worked one time before the pad fell off the top part. Without it, they don't work. I have the second one which seems to be working fine. Hopefully it will remain that way. I used to have one just like these and it worked well for several years. I'm hoping I'll have the same luck with the remaining one. Finally I can get rid of paper clips and clothes pin to close up bags of snacks. I saw these bag sealersquite by accident. I love them. I takes a minute or two to heat up the sealer. It takes a bit of a learning curve to seal the bag. I love these sealers. Never going back to chip clips !I asked for this product for Christmas. It seemed small, cheap, and ideal for my needs to reseal small packages. I wanted to make stored food last longer and prevent messes. I loved the iTouchless Handheld Heat Bag Sealer (2-Pack) so much that I decided to get them for my own mom on Mother's Day. So this time I bought it as a gift. She and my dad both tried them and said they worked well. I love that they have a magnet on the bottom so you can keep it attached to the side of the fridge. My only complaint is that I wish the magnet was stronger. I have to put another magnet beneath it so that it will stay attached well enough not to slide down or fall off. I was scared that I might have broken mine when it fell off the first time. It held up to being dropped though. The product does take a little time to get used to using. For very thin plastic (such as a bag of baby carrots) you have to be quick or it will melt right through the bag and for thicker bags you have to go slowly (such as potato chips or cereal). However, I quickly adapted and find the product extremely useful. I always wanted a bag sealer, but I didn't want another big appliance. I didn't need it for freezer items so I didn't need a vacuum seal. I highly recommend this product. The price and size are perfect for the purposes mentioned above. This didn’t really seal the opened bags. I would rather use clips. The price was too high to rationalize keeping this.I have only used the blue one and would say this product is a bit hit and miss. Yes it does seal cereal and crisp bags, but it also tears the packaging which is annoying. This item still needs fine tuning in my opinion. It's a shame really, as this would be an excellent product otherwise. Si ofrecieran ambos por unos mx$150 o mx$200, lo consideraría, claro que funcionando ambos.everything in my house soon will be sealed im having fun with this thing :)??????????Regret poor quality seal
